SM Restore is a weekend maker’s blog. We fix up old houses and older cast-offs — painting furniture, building for the garden, hanging farmhouse signs, and figuring out the repairs that come with a project house. Everything here is a real project, photographed as it happened, with the steps that worked and the ones that didn’t.
A blog, not a business
We’re not a contractor and nothing here is for hire. It’s a reading site: the guides are free, there’s no sign-up, and we write for the person doing it themselves on a Saturday, not for the trade.
About the tool reviews
When we review a tool, it’s one we actually used on a project — what it did well, where it struggled, and whether it earned its place in the shop. Some posts include affiliate or sponsored links, which help keep the site free; they never change what we say about a tool.
A word on safety: some of these jobs involve power tools, electricity, gas, heights or structural work. We flag when a job really needs a licensed pro, and you’re responsible for working safely. Get in touch if a step didn’t work for you.
